Vacation Bible School

The mission of Vacation Bible School is to offer children ages 4 through Grade 5 a mid summer one week opportunity to experience a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.  The theme each year is filled with lively music, absorbing crafts, exciting games and attention-getting drama through scripture.  Each day we gather in large group for prayer and sing our theme song with gestures.  The week is concluded with a program inviting the children’s families, grandparents, etc.
The program is then followed by a field trip to enhance the week’s theme.

Vacation Bible School is an opportunity for building community on many levels.  Children get to be with their peers as well as with teenagers who serve as aides and assistant.  Teenagers relate well with younger children and they learn a lot themselves when asked to help plan, set up, and implement the process.

Adult volunteers are key people in the success of Vacation Bible School.  They help as craft coordinator, snack coordinator, decoration coordinator, VBS coordinator, teachers and aides.

Families who took the time to listen to their children had a deeper sense that everything we experience—work, prayer, fun, friendship, eating, drinking and learning—Jesus also experienced.  Jesus is not far removed from us.  Following Jesus is challenging, but it can also be fun, enriching and fulfilling. We are a community of disciples.

Teaming with Christ

The Mission of Teaming with Christ is to share with junior high students grades 6, 7 & 8 a week experience of sharing the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.  This involves faith sharing, activities, singing, scripture, skits, crafts, high energy games and activities.

The theme varies each year.  High school students and adults are the leaders, providing witness and collaboration.  As part of their week with Teaming with Christ the junior high students share in the Drama ministry for the children in Vacation Bible School.  The Drama Ministry is organized by the high school, working with the junior high students in the planning.

The end of the week concludes with the Teaming with Christ being a part of the closing program with students, parents, grandparents, etc.  A field trip related to the theme for the week is shared by the junior high students and leaders.
